  • Diaphragms and other cervical caps can be inserted hours before sexual activity, can be reused, and are relatively inexpensive
  • A study conducted in Zimbabwe and South Africa found that diaphragm use was associated with reduced use of male condoms and provided no protection from HIV acquisition among women overall (Table 1)[Padian 2007]
