Summary

  • Patients with penicilliosis should receive initial treatment with amphotericin B liposomal 3-5 mg/kg/day IV for 2 weeks until there is clinical resolution, followed by itraconazole 200 mg orally twice daily for 10 weeks (Management Guidelines)[CDC OI]
  • Oral itraconazole 200 mg/day should be continued until the CD4+ cell count is > 100 cells/mm3 for ≥ 6 months in response to ART[CDC OI]
    • Treatment can be restarted if CD4+ cell counts decrease < 100 cells/mm3[CDC OI]
