Summary
- PCP presents with fever, nonproductive cough, and dyspnea[Kovacs 2009; Huang 2005; Alvarez-Martínez 2008; Kovacs 1984]
- Chest x-ray typically shows diffuse bilateral interstitial infiltrates, but also may be normal or have an atypical appearance (Figure 1)
- Pneumothorax in an HIV-infected patient should raise suspicion of PCP
