- Toxoplasma gondii is acquired by eating food contaminated with oocysts from cat feces or eating undercooked meat containing cysts[CDC OI; GESIDA OI]
- Persons with HIV should be advised to avoid eating raw or undercooked meat and to ensure that meat has been frozen at -20ºC before consumption
- Fruits and vegetables should be washed before eating
