Summary
- HIV-infected persons with low CD4+ cell counts and pregnant women should be advised to avoid travel to endemic malaria transmission areas[CDC OI; Panel 2008a]
- If travel cannot be deferred, mosquito bites should be avoided by using a mosquito repellent containing diethyltoluamide (DEET) at a concentration of 30% to 50%[Panel 2008a]
