Non–AIDS-Defining Cancers
Summary
- Some reports show HCC outcomes in HIV-infected patients are similar to those in HIV-uninfected patients when active treatment is provided,[Cantarini 2009; Yopp 2012; Bräu 2007] whereas other reports suggest HCC outcomes are worse with vs without HIV infection[Bower 2014; Berretta 2011; Gramenzi 2013]
- Factors that may predict shorter survival in HIV-infected patients with HCC[Bräu 2007]: symptomatic presentation, BCLC classification stage C or D, AST/ALT ratio of at least 2.0, and AFP level ≥ 400 ng/mL
