- Epidemiology
- Neutropenia occurs in 10% to 30% patients with early symptomatic HIV infection and ≥ 50% patients with clinical AIDS[Zon 1988; Mitsuyasu 1993; Moses 1998; Sullivan 1998; Fangman 2005]
- ANC levels leading to serious bacterial infections in HIV-infected patients are uncertain, and there are no other symptoms specific to neutropenia
- Multiple drugs, including various antiretroviral drugs and drugs used to treat opportunistic infections, are major cause of neutropenia in HIV infection (Table 6)
