    Transmission and Prevalence
    • Prevalence of HCV coinfection varies depending on the route of HIV transmission, ranging from 10% to 14% among persons reporting high-risk sexual exposure to approximately 85% to 90% among those reporting injection drug use[Sulkowski 2003; Vandelli 2004]
    • In the United States and Europe, approximately 25% to 33% of all HIV-infected persons are HCV infected[Kim 2013; Rockstroh 2005]
    • Among HIV-infected men, 75% of individuals who seroconvert to become HCV positive are infected by nonparenteral means[Taylor 2011]
