Endocrine Disorders: Evaluation and Management
Summary
- SCH is characterized by mildly elevated thyrotropin (TSH), with normal free thyroxine concentrations and either absent or mild nonspecific symptoms
- SCH is common among HIV-infected populations, especially those receiving ART, with prevalence ranging from 3.5% to 12.2%[Beltran 2003; Madeddu 2006; Calza 2002; Grappin 2000; Collazos 2003]
- If laboratory testing suggests SCH, TSH should be measured again after 3 months
