  • Mononeuropathy multiplex is characterized by painful, stepwise, multifocal deficits, classically due to nerve infarction associated with vasculitis
    • Can be caused by CMV infection in advanced AIDS
    • May progress rapidly to involve multiple nerve distributions, ultimately becoming confluent[Said 1991]
