- Historically, adherence to PEP regimens has been poor, ranging from < 30%[Kahn 1998; Neu 2007] to 90%[Roland 2011; Mayer 2008; McAllister 2014; Foster 2015]
- Baseline adherence counseling, periodic telephone or other types of evaluations during course of PEP should be implemented to facilitate maximal adherence
- Emphasis on missing as few doses as possible
