Bacterial Infections
Summary
- Guidelines on opportunistic infections recommend that bacillary angiomatosis, peliosis hepatitis, osteomyelitis, and Bartonella bacteremia be treated with macrolides or tetracyclines (Table 1) (Management Guidelines)[CDC OI]
- In vitro sensitivity tests should not be used to guide antibiotic selection
- Treatment should be continued until the CD4+ cell count has remained ≥ 200 cells/mm3 for ≥ 6 months
