Management of Children With or Exposed to HIV
Summary
- DHHS guidelines recommend children with HIV older than 1 year of age should initiate ART with an NNRTI, PI, or INSTI plus 2 NRTIs (Management Guidelines)[DHHS Pediatric]
- For children aged 14 days to younger than 3 years of age, lopinavir/ritonavir plus 2 NRTIs or, if weight is ≥ 2 kg, raltegravir plus 2 NRTIs is preferred
- Raltegravir, ritonavir-boosted atazanavir, or twice-daily ritonavir-boosted darunavir plus 2 NRTIs is preferred for children 3 years of age or older and weighing < 25 kg
