Management of Children With or Exposed to HIV
Summary
- DHHS guidelines recommend children with HIV older than 1 year of age should initiate ART with an NNRTI, PI, or INSTI plus 2 NRTIs (Management Guidelines)[DHHS Pediatric]
- For children 14 days of age to younger than 3 years of age, lopinavir/ritonavir plus 2 NRTIs or, if weight is ≥ 2 kg, raltegravir plus 2 NRTIs is preferred
- For children 14 days of age to younger than 6 years of age and ≥ 3 kg, dolutegravir in a new dispersible tablet formulation can substitute for lopinavir/ritonavir or raltegravir
