- Incidence of ocular opportunistic infections decreased significantly after the introduction of effective ART and is rare where ART is widely available[Palella 1998; Holtzer 1998; Jabs 2007]
- CMV is the most common ocular opportunistic infection in patients with AIDS
- Characterized by full-thickness necrotizing retinitis with white edematous or granular borders (Figure 4)
