Non–AIDS-Defining Cancers
Summary
- Current data suggest breast cancer incidence not increased in persons with HIV [Althoff 2013], however women with HIV may present with advanced disease[Pantanowitz 2002; Gewurz 2005]
- Breast cancer in HIV infection appears to have propensity for becoming bilateral disease, poorly differentiated carcinomas (Figure 14), and early metastases
- Persons with HIV with breast cancer and well-controlled HIV viremia should be treated similarly to persons without HIV
