Summary
- PML is the most common infiltrative brain lesion observed in patients with AIDS and is caused by the JC virus
- PML causes slowly progressive focal neurologic deficits
- Brain lesions are present on MRI, usually appearing as a T2 signal abnormality in the white matter without mass effect or contrast enhancement (Figure 2)[Whiteman 1993]
