- Guidelines on opportunistic infections recommend patients with toxoplasmosis should receive sulfadiazine plus pyrimethamine plus leucovorin (folinic acid) for ≥ 6 weeks (Table 6) (Management Guidelines)[CDC OI] (Management Guidelines)[Panel 2008b]
- Sulfamethoxazole/trimethoprim should be used in place of sulfadiazine plus pyrimethamine when pyrimethamine is not readily available (Management Guidelines)[CDC OI]
