    Epidemiology
    • EBV infection is found in > 90% of adults, with high seropositivity rates established by 18 years of age[Luzuriaga 2010]
    • The frequency of hepatic involvement with infectious mononucleosis increases from approximately 10% in young adults to 30% in the elderly[Lawee 2007]
    • EBV is transmitted via infected saliva (often via kissing) and less commonly by sexual transmission, with an incubation period of 30-50 days[Thorley-Lawson 2001]
