    Transmission and Prevalence
    • Prevalence of HCV infection in children in the US is estimated to be low. Rates in the developing world are higher
    • HCV infection may be acquired by children through medical procedures, illicit drug use, and from mother to child
    • Studies suggest overall incidence of mother-to-child transmission is between 4% to 7%,[Mast 2005; Gibb 2000] with most cases due to perinatal transmission[Mok 2005]
