Summary
- Clearance of HCV infection has been reported in approximately 25% to 40% of children with perinatal acquisition by 2 years of age, with up to another 12% clearing HCV infection before adulthood[Squires 2017]
- Clearance may be associated with non–genotype-1 infection and IL28B CC genotype[Howell 2012]
- Progression of liver fibrosis in children with HCV is minimal, and cirrhosis is uncommon[Bortolotti 2008; Iorio 2005; Jara 2003; Goodman 2008]
