  • Multiple international guidelines agree that HCV treatment should be considered in persons with HCV/HIV-coinfection
    • Concurrent treatment of both HIV and HCV is feasible, efficacious, and safe, but may be complicated by drug interactions; some clinicians prefer to start HIV treatment first followed by HCV treatment
  • SVR in individuals with HCV/HIV coinfection improves liver disease outcomes and may also improve HIV-related disease outcomes, including non–liver-related mortality[Berenguer 2011]
