  • In regions of high endemicity, most cases of HBV transmission occur in infants via perinatal transmission[Wong 2014] or horizontal transmission from infected family members
  • Hepatitis B Virus–Infected Women of Childbearing Age
    • Women with hepatitis B who are of childbearing age are likely to be in the immune-tolerant stage of disease,[Chang 1995] with high HBV DNA and normal ALT
    • Treatment should be deferred in women with immune-tolerant disease. Other women require careful history taking and a discussion of family planning as part of treatment decision making
